GMB NATIONAL HEALTH and SAFETY WORKPLACE INSPECTION WEEK 24th April, 2023 to 28th April, 2023
As part of a National initiative the GMB TRADE UNION, West Yorkshire Police Branch (W81), organised a ‘Health and Safety Inspection Week of Action’ covering the dates shown above.
As the recognised Lead for Health and Safety in the GMB UNION and in line with the Safety Representatives and Safety Committees Regulations 1977, Regulation 5, I visited a number of locations within Force and carried out formal inspections at each site on behalf of GMB UNION Members.
Over the week of action a total of 21 separate sites were visited and inspections carried out.
Issues were identified and will be brought to the attention of local Management through local committee meeting as well as the employer covering the whole of the West Yorkshire Estate. Generally all sites appeared to be well managed with only daily housekeeping issues were identified as being risks to safety.
This was a useful exercise supported by the employer who welcomed the GMB UNIONS involvement in making workplaces safer for staff.
